Spa at Ye Olde Bell
4.5 Stars
The Ye Olde Bell is a beautiful luxury spa. Ye Olde Bell is a firm favourite of a couple of the people in our office, who have frequented it in the past and have always had excellent things to say about them.
The Ye Olde Bell is located just off the A1 in Barnby Moor. ‘It feels like it lies in a world of its own as soon as you walk through the doors. They create an atmosphere of utter relaxation and indulgence.’ – Project Manager, Chontelle.
Their thermal area includes 8 hot & cold experiences including a 10 metre indoor to outdoor Vitality Pool. Once you’re finished swimming you can retire to the Herb Garden Brasserie for a bite to eat before taking advantage of their range of treatments. Then top off your revitalised look by visiting the Beauty Lounge and Hair Boutique so you can leave feeling brand new!

Sundown Adventureland
4.5 Stars
Sundown is located in Rampton and remains the most popular kids’ theme park for miles around. Many people know it by its original name, Pet’s Corner when it opened in 1968.
Comprised of 15 wild and wonderful outdoor and indoor areas and rides to explore as well as a delightful café and shop. Suitable for children as young as 2 and still enjoyed by the parents too.
Each area of Sundown has exciting, themed play areas and rides. Explore the high seas with Captain Sandy’s Play Cove, Pirate Adventure, smugglers Cave and the Jolly Pirate Boat ride. Or run around in a picture-perfect fairytale with Lollipoppet Castle, Storybook Village and Toy Town.
Showdown at Fort Apache and Shotgun City, join the crowd at Buck and Duke’s Sing-Along Show and visit Rodeo Corral. Or visit the famous talking animals of Market Square, the Pet Shop and Sunnydown Farm and finish with a Tractor Ride around the countryside. This and more can be enjoyed all year round with attractions being added all the time.
Sundown also features seasonal-themed events, special play areas and rides like the Witches Cauldron, Night Before Christmas and Santa’s Sleigh Ride draw excited young crowds every year.
Daneshill Lakes
4.5 Stars
Daneshill Lakes can be found in Torworth, a beautiful clear lake surrounded by trees and full of wildlife. There is a paved path around the lake as well as a maintained forest path to explore. Free parking is provided so it is perfect for all the family and disabled and pram accessible with the main lake walk taking around 40 minutes.
The walk even features viewing decks for birds and squirrels where you can feed them (responsibly, no bread please!) or just take in the scenery.
Weather permitting, the lake is also used by the Sailing Club on Sunday and fishing throughout the week, so you can grab a picnic bench and watch.
Daneshill Lakes was formerly a gravel extraction site which was restored by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust some years ago, who still maintain it to this day. The meadows next to the Lakes were the site of the WWII Ordinance Factory, and there are a number of information boards around the lakes to stop and read the fascinating history of the area.
Coloured Cob Pony Treking
5 Stars
Coloured Cob are the local superstars of pony trekking and horse riding for all ability levels. They now provide a picturesque trek through Creswell Crags for mixed groups, or you can book a day out for a whole group.
‘The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, making sure everyone is matched well with a horse for their level. The scenery is just beautiful.’ – Marketing Coordinator, Stephanie.
Suitable for anyone above 2 years old, they run treks from 30 minutes for little ones or beginners to 3 hours for more advanced riders. You can even book a trek to the local pub for lunch and a drink. Each person is assessed and paired with a horse or pony that fits their ability level, with many riders reporting they fell in love with their chosen horse right away.
Pony Parties are popular with the kids at the Coloured Cob stables with options for trekking, grooming, games, free rosette, party room and food provided. You can even dress the ponies up for a unicorn party, complete with fairy wings and glitter!
For those looking for something a bit different and a chance to truly take in the scenery of Creswell and the surrounding areas, you can now take horse and carriage rides. You can have the choice to drive yourself or to just sit back and relax.
These are just a few of our favourites and a few we think you’ll enjoy. This is a great way to spend the summer, indoors and out, just in case.
